| Eastern Metropolitan Region is a
residential electorate. Features include the Blackburn Lake
Sanctuary, a number of recreation, sports and shopping areas,
the proposed Dandenong Valley Parklands, reserves and gardens
and a number of private hospitals and retirement villages. |

| The Constitution (Parliamentary Reform)
Act 2003 changed the size and structure of the Legislative Council.
Previously, the Legislative Council comprised 44 members, elected
from 22 electoral provinces. The Act provided that, from the
2006 State election, the Legislative Council would comprise
40 members, elected from eight electoral regions. Each region
having 5 elected members. The new boundaries came into operation
at the November 2006 State election. |
